In The Beginning (Part 1)

Levi and I met in a business management class after I took notice of his preferred transportation to school, a skateboard. Through various conversations before class, Levi and I became friends. It was his idea to create a website that showcased local skaters though photos and videos, much like SkateNC at the time. So there we were, sitting at my apartment kitchen table in 2005 racking our brains for a name to call our new website. Finally, someone mentioned Ghetto Vegas (my memory of whose idea it was is a bit fuzzy), giving a new twist to the “G” in Gvegas, a popular nickname for Greenville, NC.  So it began, we bought www.ghettovegas.com and began to lie out the blueprint for the website.

In 2008 we produced two skate decks. Only one, to our knowledge is still dead stock, locked up, and never will be gripped to skate. Below is a shot of the deck still in mint condition. This deck featured the classic GhettoVegas exclamation point laced with our OG logo on top of natural wood.

 

GhettoVegas to return in 2012

Our last run was in 2008. It has for sure been a while since we have produced anything. Well that changes in 2012. We plan to come back in full force with new threads, higher quality products, and a dedication to build the brand beyond Greenville.

Over the next few weeks we’ll be releasing old photos and videos to get you pumped up for the return in 2012.
